The Year 2012 For Black Water Dragons
You are a Black Water Dragon if you are born between January 29, 1952 and February 13,1953 according to the actual begin dates of Chinese New Year Calendar. I was born between these dates in 1952, the only year in recent history when the Black Water Dragon “ruled” the world according to astrologers. Aside from us who were born between the aforementioned dates, the babies who will see the light beginning Monday, January 23,2012 until February 9, 2013 will also be Black Water Dragons.
While 2012 is a Dragon year, those born in such a year (1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012) are not considered lucky this year according to Mandarin Oriental Manila’s resident feng shui expert Joseph Chau in a press release. He explained that Dragons are said to offend the Tai Suey or Grand Duke so we will be under stress and will face many obstacles, challenges, persecutions and problems. He advised us to be very careful in handling our work or business and do things step by step. ‘Think before you act’ is a key phrase to remember, for them to be successful within the year….,” he said.
I searched the Internet further on what’s in store for Dragons in Dragon Year 2012 and this is what Susan Levitt says in her website:
Dragons love money so financially speaking, Dragon greatly enjoys the benefits of this Dragon year. Life is lived on a grand scale, and you Dragon lead the way! This is your lucky cycle so celebrate life whenever you can, get involved, and shine in the spotlight. You have fresh ideas, high energy, and are raring to go as New Year begins. Take a risk, go for broke, and do not hide your brilliance. And you’ll succeed more if you do not go it alone. Dragon can be a loner, but team with a Rat or Rooster to handle your financial details, or bond with a Monkey who has even wilder money ideas than you do. In Chinese mythology, the celestial Dragon T’ien Lung flies through the sky, chasing a pearl that is the Sun. Like the celestial Dragon, you born in Dragon year have potential to soar.
I am not a believer of Astrology, Numerology, Tarot Card Reading and other forms of fortunetelling. My sole purpose in having this blog post is to inform you of what they say so you can make your choice or ignore them altogether as you wish. I posted contrary predictions but it is not my intention to destroy your belief or faith in them. I leave it up to you to make your own conclusion and I would appreciate if you can share it here by way of a comment.
I’m not a believer too, but it’s something that I do accept. So much people in my life are Chinese who believe this. Because of that, I get convinced that it’s not hard to take their suggestions. But, at the end of the day, I still say that I control my life… not so sun and and the stars… unless the sun explodes into a super nova, or an meteor crashes directly onto earth… but that’s beside the point. 😀
i do not believe in astrology, numerology, horoscope and others but sometimes out of curiosity, i also want to know. =)
I’m a fire dragon and according to astrology this is not a good year for me, but I can’t remember a single year in my life where everything is so easy. I just don’t believe in luck. , what I do believe is that we are all created equal and whatever happen in our lives is the product of our decisions and choices. I do read horoscopes and predictions but just for fun…
i respect those who believe in fortune-telling for it can also guide them somehow in their lives… but one should understand that these have no strong basis and must not completely rely on these for everything that happens in your life is still a matter of choices and what Yahweh has in stored and planned for us even before we were born. Yahweh bless.
Not a believer but this really interests me. Not a Black Water Dragon, either.
My brothers were born in the year of the Golden Dragon. My sister, the Blue Dragon. We kinda believe in Astrology and Feng Shui but do not allow it to rule our world.
There’s no harm in inviting positive vibes! 🙂 My hubby is a dragon, so this post interests me. ^_^ It coincidentally mentioned to team up with a rooster (my son) and bond with a monkey (me!)…so yes, bring on the positive vibes! ^_^ Happy New Year!
Best Regards!

sometimes i have to agree on qualities for each of the Chinese animal years, we may or not believe but it still helps to know those…
will 2012 Year of the Dragon be lucky? we have to do our part to be blessed and not wait for luck…
we are the captain of our soul. Our future will always depends on our perspectives and decisions. And God will always be there to guide us. There’s nothing wrong with these zodiacs and predictions. However, it is our own choices that will determine our success and failures.
i am not a black water dragon . i don’t believe in astrology but i enjoys reading articles about it.
i enjoyed reading this post, and like you i dont believed in astrology…
Those who were born in the year of the Dragon are not so lucky. What a bad luck! Sorry to learn of that.
This is an interesting information but I really do not let my fate depend about this. Each person has his own way of reaching his dreams and it comes by finding the right opportunity together with hard work. Being industrious is the secret of wealth.
I’m lucky because of my dragon pendant. Lol I believe it so. I’m year of the Ox.
not really into astrology but like any piece of literature, Chinese astrology is a good reading if only to learn about the way the ancient Chinese culture would look at life, the world and people.
Ang ikakaunlad ng tao ay nasa kanyang mga kamay at hindi ng astrology.
I was born under the golden dragon which is 1976 and I am careful this year. this year, as they say, is too tiny for progress for all dragons except the water dragons.
Sir Ed, thanks for this definition.
Thank you for this, Wendell. Actually, before I wrote this article, I read somewhere that the Black Water Dragons are some sort of exempted from the bad predictions but I can’t find the source anymore. No matter what, our future really depends on how we will work for it so let us just go for it.
i only learned yesterday that it’s my year, too, and it excites me to look forward to great things coming my way…but yes, i still need to be careful and not just sit and wait for things to happen…Thanks for sharing and Happy Chinese New Year!
I don’t believe in astrology, horoscopes, etc. We make our own destiny and it depends on the small and big things that we do everyday 🙂
most of the time i ignore these things.but i must admit, whenever i read about mine, can’t help but relate to what it’s saying about me. it’s not bad at all to live by these, but at the end of the day, it is us who holds our successes. it is us who set our life’s directions
