Failing To Blog Due To 2nd MICAS
The Second Mindanao Internet Café Associations Summit (2nd MICAS) was held last February 18 and 19, 2010 at The Event Centre of SM City-Davao in Davao City. The two-day event was co-organized by the Internet Café Association of Davao (ICAD) Inc. and I-Café Pilipinas, the national advocacy body of the Philippine Internet café industry that has your blogger as its chairperson. My attendance to the summit caused my inability to write new articles since Wednesday, February 17, 2009. I wish to apologize to those who regularly visit this blog for my failure to post updates in the past five (5) days.
Now, I wish to report that the 2nd MICAS was indeed a big success in terms of putting together some big stakeholders in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry like Intel Technology Philippines, Microsoft Philippines, Globe Telecom, Bayantel and Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT). The event was also supported by other players in the industry like ICT Davao Inc., Growth with Equity for Mindanao (GEM), iGlobe Technology, Data Vault Security, Metro Preneur Corp. and Teleglobal of the Philippines. The two-day summit was really a big push to “Bringing The Benefits of Information and Communications Technology To The People of Mindanao Through Internet Cafés” which was the main theme of the event.
The summit participants were officers and members of the different Internet café associations (ICA) like the Internet Café Association of Tagum (ICAT), Digos Internet Café Association (DIGICA) and ICAD. They gamely participated in the discussions of the various topics presented by the speakers in the summit and many of them were lucky to win various raffle items donated by the sponsors. At the end of the summit, an agreement was reached among the ICAs present that the next MICAS will be held in Tagum City on a date to be be announced later.
