Getting Into The Finals of 2009 Philippine Blog Awards

Click to see the list of finalistsFor almost two (2) months now, you might have noticed the banner in the left sidebar of this site announcing the nomination of this blog to the 2009 Philippine Blog Awards. It is actually a nomination for an award in the Nationwide Business Category. There are many categories where awards will be given for the best in each category and Owning a Café is nominated in the business category because of its content about the Internet café industry in the country.

The Philippine Blog Awards is a yearly event that aims to give recognition to outstanding blogs in but not limited to the Filipino Blogging Community. The Philippine Blog Awards is organized by the Philippine Blogger Awards Inc. a non-stock and non-profit corporation. The event is now on its third (3rd) year and the awards for the best blogs in each category will be given on October 9, 2009 6:00 PM at PETA Theater according to the announcement in the award body’s website. Within the month of October, similar award-giving events will be held in Cebu City for Visayas regional winners and in Cagayan de Oro City for the winners in Mindanao region.

The other day, September 23, 2009 the finalists in each category were announced and I am very lucky to have this blog as one of the finalist in the national business category. I should say that as a newbie blogger who started this site only in January of this year, being a finalist in the country’s most prestigious award for Filipino bloggers is already a great honor for me. You can see the list of the finalists in the different categories if you will click the image on this blog post.

While winning the award will be great, not getting it will not despair me. The other finalists in my category are all good and being in their company is already enough for me to grateful and honored. Getting into the finals of this contest is a big push for me to strive some more in my efforts to inform and promote my advocacy for a better Internet café business in the Philippines.
