Doubting The Death Of Osama bin Laden
Why would President Barack Obama, the leader of the most powerful nation in the world, be the one to break the news of Osama bin Laden’s death if he was not certain of the information? The news concerned the whole world because it was about the person behind the most gruesome crime committed against mankind in recent time. Where would the US President be if after breaking the news, Osama bin Laden come out on television to belie the report? These circumstances should be enough for us to believe the news but did we?
Sad to say, many did not immediately believe the report. Some doubters asked for the body of the dead Osama while others were less demanding and would settle for the photo of his corpse. A few others were more outspoken about their non-belief of the news and started discussions in public online forums probably intending to convince more people on their doubts about the death of an eleven-year fugitive of the law. However, with the recent pronouncements of Osama bin Laden’s allies among the Taliban and al-Qaeda members that their leader was indeed killed by US forces, I wonder what the doubters would now do. I guess they would just keep quiet after all the noise they did.
I cannot totally blame those doubting the death of Osama bin Laden at the beginning. After all, the ‘to see is to believe’ rule still applies in the many things happening around us. We want proofs of what other people are telling us. However, isn’t it that we normally believe what our friends tell us? So, can we not make an exemption and not doubt what the top leader of the most powerful nation in the world report to us especially if it is about something that can be easily belied by the party in the news?
Hi,
Obama was trying to politically capitalize on the situation (because of his failed economic policies and $5 trillion spending debt since he was elected) rather then ensure the best job was done. He has turned the achievement of the Navy Seals into a political side show. By not showing the photos, he has only strengthen the followers of Bin Laden and antagonized the victims of 9/11 with uncertainty and doubt.
Doubting the death of Osama even after President Obama publicly confirmed by what percent of the total population is the main question. The percent that we obtain would be the population who doubts on President Obama and would not settle for whatever he says (which I think is not much that big of a population).
Actually, in my opinion, his words should have been taken without any doubts.
And yes I do believe he tried to politically capitalize on the situation.
I think there would have been less doubt if:
1. Obama wasn’t so eager to make a public side show of it.
2. Didn’t put so much into hyping his failed press conference up
3. Didn’t go out of his way to politicize the entire event by having Union supports rally crowds up at 11:30 U.S. east cost time with an overly high number of tweenies that had no idea of who Bin Laden was. Yahoo report 58% search that night on who Bin Laden was…
4. He used the situation to root our the Bin Laden supporters in the Pakistani government.
5. He didn’t try to use the situation to claim the U.S./Mexican border was now secure.
Thank you very much for your comment. I say the in the Bible, the doubting Thomas even want to touch Risen Christ before he would believe that He indeed came back from His death. I can’t blame a few ordinary mortals for not believing that Osama bin Laden was indeed killed by the US Navy seals.
They didn’t post in the media and in the internet the pictures of Bin Laden’s dead body because Bin Laden’s men may revenge to the Americans. Bin Laden is a strong person and he is the author September 11 terror attack. And I believe that Bin Laden was kill by the Americans and throw the body in a river.
