The Kick-Off Is Now I-Café Pilipinas
Yes, it can be officially told that “The Kick-Off” is now I-Café Pilipinas. Shown in the image on this blog are the members of the Council of Convenors of I-Café Pilipinas taking their oath of allegiance to the advocacy of the group to promote the ethical use of Internet technology and work for the general welfare of the Internet café industry in the Philippines. Officiating the oath-taking is Commissioner Monchito Ibrahim of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) during the courtesy call made by the convenors yesterday, September 1, 2009 at the CICT-NCC Building in C. P. Garcia St., Diliman, Quezon City.
I-Café Pilipinas was legally registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-profit, non-stock corporation last August 27, 2009. As a non-government organization (NGO), I-Café Pilipinas aims to be the national advocacy body that will voice the ideals, aspirations and dreams of the Internet café industry players as they take to the task of contributing to the development of their communities by providing affordable and high quality services using the Internet.
The newly formed NGO will serve as the umbrella organization that will network and link the Internet café associations with the concerned national government agencies and private organizations and business entities catering the needs of the Internet café industry. I-Café Pilipinas stated the following as its objectives in its Articles of Incorporation as approved by SEC:
- To initiate, promote, undertake, sponsor, organize and manage programs, activities and events geared towards uplifting the image and quality of service of Internet cafés operating around the country.
- To disseminate the innovations and development in the information and communications technology to Internet café owners and the community in general in order to push for the full utilization of the new technologies in the country.
- To create linkages with government institutions and other related business enterprises to create and implement programs that will bring about improvements in efficiency and service in the internet café industry.
With such objectives aimed at having a better Internet café business in the country, I hope that everyone in the Internet café industry in the country would support and join the efforts for the success of I-Café Pilipinas.
Its lofty objectives will need firm commitment and determination from the convenors to achieve the modicum of success. But, taking the first step of organizing is already a commitment, the follow through from each member will draw forth the needed results. Good luck to I-Cafe Pilipinas!
support is the right word for these endeavors of I-Cafe Pilipinas, let us gear ourselves to uplift the image of our industry …. masyado na tayong nananahimik ….
