In order to evade paying what seems to be an ever increasing local tax being levied by a local government unit (LGU), more and more owners are thinking of “closing” their i-cafés and secure new permits instead of renewing their old ones. The reason for the big difference in the taxes imposed on new registrations as against renewal of existing business permits has been explained in my previous blog but is it advisable to close a i-café and apply for a new business permit?
This is the period, January 02 – 20 of each year, for renewing business permit with your local government unit (LGU), a city or a town. What actually are you paying for in order to get your permission to operate a i-café? These are stated in the Order of Payment or Assessment Slip given to you after you submit your Application for Renewal of Business Permit together with the requirements stated therein.
It is only after going through the above procedures can we say that the i-café owner starts legally operating it. Of course, complying with the various rules and regulations of the agencies on which the business was registered will now be a mandated duty of the owner as a responsible member of the business community.
