Is the traffic from social media good for a blog? Some may say it is because it is not a paid traffic that search engines and advertisers do not like. For me, blog traffic from social media is alright at the start because visits are registered as new. Later on, the visits will register as return traffic and would not count for those blogs with advertisements being paid according to impressions shown. Honestly, visits from social media cannot compare with organic traffic from search engines where 90% and up are always new.

Lately, I am participating on active blog promotion in social media especially Facebook (FB) where Filipino bloggers have grouped together for a common goal of exchanging traffic. Because of this, my blog is now getting visits from co-bloggers aside from a few of my 'FB friends'. The traffic from social media has partially replaced the ones I lost from blog ad networks but should small bloggers be happy with this kind of engagement?

Any group, association, organization, club and the like who needs to be constantly in touch with its members to discuss matters of concern need an online forum. I am familiar in using online forums as well as moderating them and I am confident in saying that bloggers despite diversity of kinds and interests need such kind of facility. We need to have a venue where we can discuss about blog improvement, platform, SEO, advertising, earning online and other matters of help especially for those who are new in the craft.

After almost a year since changing its title to EdZee's Net Logs, I feel it's now time to fix my blog's identity from being a business blog to one under personal-mixed bag category. This move was hastened by a recent review made by Mr. Ben Barden of Floor 15, a blog ratings community where I am a member. It is also a timely in view of my decision to lie low on the advocacy work I am doing for the internet café industry in our country.

Bloggers are advised to show a list of their most popular posts to readers and I decided to do so lately. Blogging gurus also say that follow-up articles about the popular posts of a blogger must be done. That way, a blogger can expect more page views especially if an update note is incorporated in the old popular posts. As someone who have committed to go on with blogging, you can expect me to also follow this advice when developments warrant updates on my popular topics.

Yes, I am now using a Hackintosh Notebook for my personal computing and blogging activity. It actually is a pre-owned IBM ThinkPad X60s ultraportable notebook installed with legally obtained retail version of Mac OS X version. 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard) operating system. The unit was recently handed down to me by one of our sons. Remember when I posted an article about my malfunctioning old Pentium 4 desktop and my dream of having an all-in-one (AIO) personal computer (PC) as replacement. Well, I failed to post that my old desktop PC finally rested in peace sometime in May and my dream of an AIO did not materialize.

If I consider the very high bouncing rates (more than 90% of the visits never went beyond an ad's landing page) that my blog gets from clicks by ad network members and the fact that those clicks are intended to get incentives and not really to read my blog, I am having second thought as to propriety of advertising blogs to gain page views. Also, there is always the risk of getting my Adsense account suspended because doing such advertising is in reality a violation of Google's policy on the use of traffic exchange programs.
