There's one definite conclusion though, my old PC is due for replacement and if I could make a wish, I want an all-in-one (AIO) computer unit. I am not dreaming of an Apple iMac but any PC in AIO configuration so I can save space in my work area. I looked at an online second-hand PC store but there is no AIO unit available. It will take some time yet for my dream to come true but I am not complaining.

NBI said during the hearing that law enforcers often have a difficult time tracing specific users who connect to the Internet through laptops and wireless connectivity. He said if the government requires users to register their devices used in connecting to the Internet, law enforcers will have an easier time tracing those who may be involved in certain cybercrimes. They further said that 50 percent of Internet connections in the country is wireless.

The nation's largest telecommunications company, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) is revolutionizing its fixed line business with a new offering that bundles a landline service with a touch-screen tablet and a high speed myDSL service all under one service plan. A few days ago, the company introduced the new service that includes the PLDT TelPad, a unit includes a special handset that also serves as a charging dock for an application-rich, 7-inch screen tablet computer (Tablet PC). Subscribers can use the handset or the Tablet PC to make and receive phone calls and access over a hundred thousand online applications. This is on top of the unlimited broadband access of the bundled service.

What do you answer when someone asks you what kind of personal computer do you have? Chances are you will reply with Pentium 4, Dual-Core, Athlon, Phenom and other brand names plus the processor speed of your central processing unit (CPU) in Gigahertz (GHz). So if you ask me with the same question, my answer will be "My computer is a Pentium 4 - 2.4Ghz". With such a reply, you may conclude whether or not my computer is slower or faster than yours by just comparing their GHz processor speeds. The higher the GHz figure, the faster the computer will be. Correct? I say YES if you are comparing both old computers and NO if you are comparing them (the old ones) to the computers of today with multiple-core processors.

How will Nettop Ng Bayan 2.0 affect the struggling Internet café industry in the country? Will the low-cost PC become affordable to the people and take away some more customers from the Internet café's already dwindling patronage due to oversupply in many areas? Many Internet café owners will say that because the Nettop Ng Bayan 2.0 cannot be used for the many current PC games, it will not have any effect on their income. Let's hope it will be so, the industry cannot afford more blows to its already sub-par income earning capability.

I said above that the 32-bit components are very much around so we still have 32-bit processors, 32-bit operating systems and 32-bit applications. In the same way, 64-bit processors, 64-bit operating systems and 64-bit applications are also available at present. We, of course, know that 32-bit components work when used together and so with 64-bit ones if they are the ones used solely in a system. But what if they are mixed, how do you know which one will work with what when they are used in one computer?
