Protecting I-Café Goers Against Keyloggers

Online security is one issue that make i-café customers think twice before they login to their accounts for transactions like online banking, credit card payment and others. Some customers are even afraid to check and send their emails in i-cafés for fear that their contents are getting logged without their consent. Gaming and social networking customers do their things in i-cafés under risks of having their usernames and passwords stolen by some ill-minded people called hackers who steal such information by installing malicious software (malware) called keyloggers on i-café workstations.

While anti-virus and/or anti-malware programs plus auto-rollback software installed in i-café computer units are intended to avert the situations described above, the problem, however, is that keyloggers can be very difficult to detect by standard free antivirus.  In addition, keyloggers are very simple pieces of software that can be recoded in hours thwarting new anti-virus definitions.  Therefore, a personal computer cannot be considered completely safe with just free anti-virus and anti-spyware.

There is one software that i-café owners can install to protect their customers against keyloggers. The software which comes in both free and paid versions is called KeyScrambler. KeyScrambler Personal is the free version and it is a plug-in for web browsers that protects everything you type from keyloggers. It defeats keyloggers by encrypting your keystrokes at the keyboard driver level, deep within the operating system. When the encrypted keystrokes reach your browser, KeyScrambler then decrypts them so you see exactly the keys you’ve typed. Keyloggers can only record the encrypted keys, which are completely indecipherable.

Unlike anti-virus and anti-spyware programs that depend on recognition to remove keyloggers that they know about, KeyScrambler will protect you from both known and unknown keyloggers. What’s more, KeyScrambler provides protection without getting in your way. You don’t have anything to learn about the program and you don’t have to do anything differently, but with KeyScrambler your important personal information will be a whole lot safer.

Actually, KeyScrambler is not advisable for use in i-cafes only. All of us who access the Internet must have it to protect us against keyloggers which can get installed in our computers without us even knowing it. Another thing that we must do when using KeyScrambler in our online activities is to always type our usernames and passwords when logging in to our accounts. Having them remembered by your browser will defeat the function of the KeyScrambler.
